I recently got the chance to talk with Nikki Napalm, the lovely pinup model you see here. We met Nikki when she entered our pinup contest to win a coveted spot in Retro Lovely magazine. Although Nikki didn’t win our contest this time, she proved to us she could do it on her own, with her fiery hair, colorful tattoos, sex appeal and a rockin’ personality. Nikki talks to me about all kinds of things, and explains why she may not be who we think she is, in her photos. Read my interview with Nikki Napalm below, and check out some great eye candy.

We see pin up girl/alt model - Nikki Napalm in your photos (super hot and artistic). Tell us who you are when your not posing in front of the lens.

I’m a total goody two shoes. You’d never guess by the way I look, but I’m religious, I’ve never smoked, drank alcohol, or done drugs.  I’m a loyal woman with a heart of gold and a good head on her shoulders.  I like the shock value and contrast of my look with my value systems.  I’m very focused on my future and want to make sure I have a clear head to see it through.  Being healthy from the inside out is important to me, I feel like I have a lot to live for and a lot to look forward to and I don’t need anything getting in my way.

We hear of guys crushing on girls with red hair. What’s your deal with red headed guys, why do you find them irresistible??

Some people think it’s silly, but I have a mad thing for redheaded, fair-skinned, freckled guys… gingers.  I guess you could call it somewhat of a fetish, but it’s innocent.  To me, those features are rare and exotic… and if he’s tall and tattooed, he can just about stop my heart!  There’s one fella in particular that I’m looking for too, but I don’t know his name.  I just have seen him at a couple car shows and have been too shy to go up and talk to him.

So tell us how geeky can you get? Star Wars Geeky or World of Warcraft Geeky?

Haha, neither!  I’m a horror geek!  I totally nerd out on scary movies.  Some of my favorite films are Hellraiser (1, and 2), Re-Animator, Evil Dead, Dead Alive, Dawn of the Dead, Return of the Living Dead, and Creepshow.  I live for 80‘s cheesy slasher horror. The more blood and guts the better. The 1980′s seem to be when the melding of a decent plot and good special-FX makeup came into play. Before that, you could just tell how fake everything was, or the story line wasn’t very interesting, the movie was too slow or long, etc. I’m equally into sci-fi and suspense though too; it’s the best when a director combines all those elements, like the movie CUBE: that’s my all time favorite movie.

Pinstriped Pin Up Heats up the Garage

Straight from Dallas Texas, I bring you Hellkitten. This curvaceous pin up boasts some super hot pinstriping – on her body. Hellkitten is not just another pretty face in the crowd. She proudly owns and operates her own online clothing store HellkittenOriginals.com She showcases her work with amazing photos and you can really see how her love for cars inspired her style and the details of her webstore.

Hellkitten has told me in our interview below how her affection for cars began, and why she loves them so much. All though she’s a clothing designer and looks hot in latex and heels, there is a much ‘tougher’ side to Hellkitten. She’s a a representative for Pinups for Pittbulls, the organization that strives to set the record straight on Pittbulls and the bad rap they have picked up over the years, (by using some great imagery of sexy pin up girls and their prized pooches, you can order the calendar here.) It’s no doubt these dogs are tough, but the tough part about that job is getting the point across. I truly admire anyone who goes out of there way for the well being of these animals. (yes, you guessed it, I am a pitbull owner myself)

Enough of me yammering on let’s get to the meat and gravy of this story, the interview and the amazing photos of Hellkitten taken by pin up photographer, Viva Van Story.

I’d like to get your take on why Pin Ups and Hot rods go so well together. What is it about the duo that have stood the test of time?

I think its all about the curves.  The curves of the pin up compliment the curves on the car.  Attitude too… you can really convey a true scene by the attitude the model has with the car.   Plus who doesn’t want to see a pretty girl with a hot car?

You have some amazing “Pinstriping” on your body, and it’s really sexy. Also, a mark of a true car enthusiast. What inspired your love for Rods and Customs?

I was raised a car girl.  My father was a car fan and my next door neighbor growing up built street rods.  Being a nosey girl I was constantly over there asking “Whats that” and “Make the car loud”  and silly things like that.  I really learned a lot between  my neighbor and my father and learned a true appreciation for classic cars (not to mention lots of impressive car facts)  My neighbor even inspired me to learn welding.

You had mentioned something to me about latex. Teehee… you have to tell me the whole story! What is it about latex and a sweaty, hot body?

Well… this is an embarrassing one!  The first time I shot with latex it was summer & we shot outside.   Lets just say once you get sweaty, the latex shifts, so all kinds of wardrobe malfunctions were happening.  Then (this is the best part)  when I went to take off the items, they made some very strange & obscene sounding noises while I was pulling the clothing off.   Its was really funny, but embarrassing at the time being with people I didn’t know well!  Needless to say- we are all great friends now… and I like to shoot latex in the winter now! ha ha ha!

For the record, curling iron or blow torch?

Oooh thats a tough one……..torch… every time… and for the record…. acetylene.  That’s my favorite!

Not only just a pretty face, you own and operate your own line of clothing called Hellkitten Originals. How did that venture come to be?

I studied fashion design in college and I always loved recreating vintage 50′s designs. I made a large majority of my pin up modeling wardrobe and many people asked where they could get them.  So in early 2009 Hellkitten original was born.   I noticed girls in the pin up scene are all shapes & sizes, so that is when I started doing custom items.   There is no greater thrill to me than to have a client that cannot buy items “off the rack”  receive my clothing  & it fits them like a glove.   Every woman is beautiful and they deserve to look that way too!

Cara Mia’s a tattooed Hot Rod and Pin Up model, hailing from Oregon. She says she likes to add a lot of versatility to her modeling and has a lot of different interests. She has a large modeling portfolio, and I’d venture to say that with her killer looks, it’ll be getting a lot bigger. She has a bad girl look, with ink on most areas of her body, but don’t let that fool you… Cara has a sweet side, and she’s not afraid to tell us she likes to curl up with her man and puppy, watch movies and knit scarves. Whether you like her for her spicy side, or sweet, her pictures are sure to please.

We can make our best guess by the looks of you (you’re hot) but, tell us how you got your start in the Pin Up scene?

I began Pinup in Portland by fluke. A friend and I took a few pictures with his new camera, I posted them on my Myspace and it all happened from there. I met all sorts of like minded people at shows, and we just had an urge to work together. Its all in good fun.

You are a very sexy little package, but you seem to have a bad girl side judging by your tattoos. So tell us, do you prefer to get down and dirty, any crazy hobbies? Or do you prefer to stay sweet and get dolled up?

I’m going to have to say I love a little of both. I’ve got a decent head on my shoulders and make sure to tuck into bed at a decent hour, to make it to school… However, the weekends are fair game! I love going out swing dancing, and watching awesome shows with a cheap beer in my hand. As for crazy hobbies, I can’t say that I’m too wild, my hobbies consist of watching box sets, knitting scarves, eating lots of food with my boyfriend and puppy, hanging out with the Deviants C.C., and just enjoying life as it comes.

I mentioned your tattoos above, which look amazing. I really like the stocking seams and bows on your legs. Care to share what your other tattoo pieces are and what their importance are to you?

I have a handful of pieces that have meaning to me. My favorite two would have to be my chest piece, and a small face from Hedwig and the Angry Inch, on my hip. My chest piece is a zombie Claddagh. The Claddagh is an Irish symbol that represents giving your love and crowning it with your loyalty. As for the hip face thing, its about the origin of love. Damn that movie is good.

I’ll be all over the place, a couple right off the top of my head are :

You have done quite a few pin up shoots. Tell us about your wildest, most memorable shoot.

I’d have to say that shooting for my benefit calendar was probably the craziest. It consisted of  over 13 shoots, with all different female owned hot rods. Since we’re all from Portland, it was tough fighting the crappy weather and hoping for sun. Once the weather decided to hold up, it was on! We powered through the whole calendar in a matter of weeks.

Doris Mayday – Pinup Calendar Girl and Sex Therapist?

Doris Mayday, a name well known in the Pinup Up community, has been considered a modern day Marilyn Monroe. Platinum blonde hair, ruby red lips, curves that kill, are just a few traits of this blonde bombshell hailing from Sin City itself, Las Vegas.

With a resume longer than some pin ups will ever have, Doris is super accomplished at the age of just 21, and it’s no wonder why… one look at her and you’ll know why she is at the top of every one’s favorite pin up list.

Doris is a beauty and has the brains to back up those gorgeous looks. Not just a model, Doris loves to style her own shoots from floor to ceiling and spends a lot of her time scouring antique shops for priceless memorabilia of days gone by to use in her shoots.

Q. When you attend car shows, like the car show at Viva Las Vegas for example, you must have tons of fans who would like you to take photos with their rides. What is it about a ride that gets Doris Mayday posing next to it?

A.You just gotta ask!! All it takes is a friendly introduction, and I’d gladly snap a picture with their pride and joy. I grew up with my father restoring old cars, so I have a real love for cars. He had everything from Chevy Trucks, vintage Vettes, Lincoln’s,  motorcycles, Chargers, it was like being raised in a car museum.

Q. In another interview you talked about how modeling was not your first choice, but luckily for us you followed that path. Can you tell us why you were leaning towards being a ‘Sex Therapist’ before you were a model?

A. Way to put me on the spot! Well, I’ve always been a problem solver and enjoyed talking with people to help in any way I can, so therapy seemed like an obvious career. And then with the ‘Sex’ part… Sex is who we are, what we crave, what we need, how we’re made. There is so many facets to it and it will NEVER get old. I really wanted to get into the Fetish side of it to see what really makes me people lust. But also be there for people to vent, talk to, and work out their issues or questions. You know, just boring book stuff ;)

Q.It’s not hard to see that you have a very curvaceous, sexy form to your body. Your look is so classic and feminine. What do you do to keep that fantastic hourglass figure in shape?

A. Well I can thank my lovely mother for my Italian hips and busty form- thanks ma! I am in LOVE with waist cinchers and corsets, which has helped give me my hourglass shape. They look incredible on and it’s addicting once you see yourself laced up; it’s hard not to wear them!

Q. It’s been known that modeling is no easy feat. Getting those killer curves to look just right in photos can be a workout in itself. After a long shoot, what do you do to unwind and relax?

A. A good meal and an even better beer is the perfect ending to a shoot.

Q. You are very gracious, sweet and confident. Also, a part of me thinks that you can be quite the party animal! You have a great head on your shoulders and work very hard at what you do. How do you find a balance between work and play?

A. I’ve learned to function on no sleep and I have turned into a pinup robot… but seriously, I always put my work first, and my rest second. You only live once and I never want to regret sitting back and watching the grass grow… So I will drive the 4 hours to go to a rockabilly show in Cali knowing I have to drive right back and wake up in two hours to go back to work. All in high heels, too!

Well I for one know I can’t wait to see more of Doris. I’m a huge fan of her modeling and her style. Now that I have had the chance to get to know her a little bit better, I can say I think she’s a great person. I’m looking forward to meeting her at Viva Las Vegas in April. Never heard of Viva? Kristabelle, don’t shoot!

Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender is no doubt it’s own car show. The cars get checked before entering so there’s no billet anything or any car built after sixty-something. But it’s the people and more specifically the wandering pinups that make the show. Who doesn’t love Hot Rod Pinups!

Burlesque Performer Sophia Sirena

If you’re watching closely, you’ll see well known pinups like Heidi Van Horne and Dayna Delux enjoying the show, but they’re generally not posing. I guess you could say they’ve “made it” and get paid when they’re shot. Dayna teamed up with Sabina Kelly to host a “Bottles and Pinup Models”  night at the Foundation Room at the Mandalay Bay and Heidi’s doing a little bit of everything. She’s acting, directing, writing a blog for the Houston Chronicle… she’s busy but just as sweet as ever!

Viva’s become a hot spot for pinup models and the photographers that make their living shooting pinup. This is Mitzi Valenzuela from Mitziandco.com shooting one of many pinup models on the long (Wednesday to Sunday) weekend. Mitzi’s contributed quite a bit to MyRideisMe.com and has shot with just about every well known pinup out there, so if you’re looking for a photographer, she’s a great place to start.

Roy Vargas is another pro pinup photographer. I just met him at the show and wanted to give proper credit for bogarting (like the dude shooting in this picture) on his organized shoot with the gorgeous red head Gia Genevieve. I posted her picture in this story. I’d love to feature Gia as Pinup of the Month!
