Standing tall at 5’10″ at the top of the pinup modeling ranks (or close to it!) is May’s Pinup of the Month, Sabina Kelley.

Close up with Hot Rod pinup Sabina Kelly

Sabina Kelley the pinup can be seen all over in magazines and calendars, but she’s reaching beyond now modeling internationally, in TV and music videos, too. She’s been modeling for 10 years now, so there’s not much she hasn’t done in front of the camera.

So much more than a pretty face, she’s a professionally trained dancer as well with ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and pointe (you know, on the tip of your toes…) dancing on her resume.  She started as a ballerina in a small town but her talent and long flowing gorgeous-ness soon took her to Sin City where she performed as a showgirl in “Jubilee” for over 2 years at Ballys Hotel.  It’s no surprise then that she’s training for her own burlesque dance show to debut soon. (we’ll watch for it!)

After alot of trying and help from MyRideisMe.com friend and fellow Pinup Heidi Van Horne, I finally caught up with Sabina and asked her a few questions.  Here’s what she said:

In case you didn’t know, Sabina’s opened her own tattoo shop called Bombshell Tattoo Parlor. I said, Why the tattoo shop? Are you an artist or just a big fan of tatoos? My husband and I own two tattoo shops. One is Staytrue Tattoo Parlor (www.MySpace.com/StaytrueTattooParlor) and the other one is Bombshell Tattoo Parlor. I also own a laser tattoo removal business called Bombshell Tattoo Removal (www.BombshellTattooRemoval.com) My husband is a tattoo artist, and I only do tattoo removal. They are both equally busy.

Pinup Sabina Kelly's 1965 ImpalaHave you always been into cars? Why the 65 Impala? Is it your daily driver? How is it My Ride is Me? Yes, I have always been into cars. I model with a lot of hot rods and really like hot rods, but my love is for lowriders. My 65′ Impala is not my daily driver. It could be, but I do not have air conditioning in it yet, and with it being up to 120 degrees in Vegas in the summer, that is no good for a baby in the car. I love my Impala. She is a good car, super stylish, is always turning heads, but needs alot of attention, and is a hard worker. Which I guess is kinda like me. Ha ha. She runs in the cold winter and the hot summer. Right now my car is a tourqoise color, but I am going to paint her soon a sparkly pink, plus it will make her different. I have never seen a 65′ Impala like mine that is sparkly pink. That way my husband will not want to drive her anymore.

Sabina’s own bio says it best: “Sabina is a model, business women, wife and mother, and she manages to do it all with grace and style.” No doubt.

We’ve loaded several Sabina Kelley Pinup pictures in the pinup gallery so take a look. We’ll add more any time Sabina’s kind enough to share them. Make sure to leave a comment below and let Sabina know you care…

Sabina and I would like to thank the photographers represented here and in the gallery: Ama Lea, Brian Brown, MichelleXStar, Shannon Brooke, Eric Ita, Viva Van Story,  and Reinaldo Robinson.

Kristabelle, don’t shoot!

Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender is no doubt it’s own car show. The cars get checked before entering so there’s no billet anything or any car built after sixty-something. But it’s the people and more specifically the wandering pinups that make the show. Who doesn’t love Hot Rod Pinups!

Burlesque Performer Sophia Sirena

If you’re watching closely, you’ll see well known pinups like Heidi Van Horne and Dayna Delux enjoying the show, but they’re generally not posing. I guess you could say they’ve “made it” and get paid when they’re shot. Dayna teamed up with Sabina Kelly to host a “Bottles and Pinup Models”  night at the Foundation Room at the Mandalay Bay and Heidi’s doing a little bit of everything. She’s acting, directing, writing a blog for the Houston Chronicle… she’s busy but just as sweet as ever!

Viva’s become a hot spot for pinup models and the photographers that make their living shooting pinup. This is Mitzi Valenzuela from Mitziandco.com shooting one of many pinup models on the long (Wednesday to Sunday) weekend. Mitzi’s contributed quite a bit to MyRideisMe.com and has shot with just about every well known pinup out there, so if you’re looking for a photographer, she’s a great place to start.

I just met him at the show and wanted to give proper credit for bogarting (like the dude shooting in this picture) on his organized shoot with the gorgeous red head Gia Genevieve. I posted her picture in this story. I’d love to feature Gia as Pinup of the Month!

So if you’re a fan of pinup models, the retro scene and hot rods and customs of all kinds, Viva’s a show for you. We’ll see you there early in early April of 2011, so until then, enjoy these shots and the pictures in the Ladies of Viva II.

Thanks to the all the girls! See ya next year. The rest of the Pinup Pictures are here.

April Pinup of the Month – Notorious Ang

Sometimes you get lucky.

I’m not talking about your chances with MyRideisMe’s April “Pinup of the Month” Notorious Ang, I’m talking about getting sizzling hot rod pinup shots like this one. (Click on any pic to see it full size)

Swanee and I hit the 2010 Viva Las Vegas with one goal.  As #13 in a series, Viva’s a show for hot rods and customs with a strictly vintage feel, so we wanted to shoot tons of great hot rods and pinups.  Done! Ang hooked us up with poses that flat MADE the shots. Girls looking for posing lessons, take note.

We later found out the beautiful custom she’s posing with is owned by Cart and Indy car racer Paul Tracy. We interviewed Paul and asked about his near Indy 500 win and his killer rides. More on that later…

Luck was with us again at Viva Las Vegas when Ang graciously snuck away from her shoot with Ol’ Skool Rods to shoot with another well known car guy’s car, Bo Huff:

This 1957 Ranchero’s easily one of my favorites from the show. Clean, low, wide-open-beautifulness.

As Pinup of the Month, we add a little bio info. Here’s something you didn’t know: Ang is a self professed nerd. She says she spends too much time on the computer (reminds me of someone) and enjoys using Photoshop as well as being the subject of the photo a model.Hot rod pinups, Viva Las Vegas, girls, VLV 2010, 13, rockabilly

Ang is a Norcal girl originally from Oakley, CA who spent many summers on the nearby “Delta” wake boarding or simply “holding down the ice chest”. I grew up near the Delta too and remember my days trying to ski over huge wakes let off by the bigger bay running boats. Letting go of the rope, the smart thing to do, was never an option. There were girls like Ang around!

Want to see more of Ang? It’ll be easy. She’s actively modeling and has a fun blog at 107.7 The Bone, a radio station in the bay area in Cali. Read more about her and see what she’s up to HERE. You can also follow her: Notorious Ang on twitter. The best place to see more of her work and book her for a future shoot might be at her Model Mayhem page here.

It was our pleasure working with Notorious Ang. Thank you! How do you like our pics?  Please leave comment and tell a friend.

Christmas Pinup of the Month – Heidi Van Horne

It’s a rare treat to find a gorgeous pinup model like Heidi Van Horne who’s also a great story about why, “My Ride is Me”.  That’s why Heidi’s a holiday gift for you from MyRideisMe.com and our Christmas Season “Pinup of the Month”.

One thing you’ll notice in quite a few pictures in Heidi’s Pinup Picture Gallery is the tan colored F100 named “Molly” that Heidi owns, drives and even wrenches on! (click to see each picture full size)

So of course, I had to ask, Why Molly? Heidi said, “I don’t know.  I don’t ever know why a car or truck’s name is what it is.  It just tells me one day.  No clue!”

Like most of us, Heidi got into cars from family: “I grew up working on cars to keep ‘em running, with my dad and brother.  I had to work on them to get to work and school, no glory in it, just a matter of life!  ;) But it gave me an appreciation for the mechanics of it all and wishing for one like my dad talked about having when he was a kid.”  She continued, “I love vintage trucks, so when this one just came along, I felt it was meant to be mine.”

“Molly’s My Ride is Me because… She’s tough, sweet, sturdy and time-tested, but cute and fun.  I love Molly!”

You’ll notice by scanning the web for Heidi Van Horne, she’s got range! Her looks range from friendly, approachable, girl next store sweetheart:

Then Heidi changes things up some for a seriously hot shoot for YRB Magazine:

So it’s no surprise that Heidi’s done some acting and is also a writer. She’s got a regular column with the Houston Chronicle online here www.chron.com (to find her, search “Heidi Van Horne” on the main page). If you’re in Houston, catch her working the Houston Auto Show January 30-31 for the Houston Chronicle.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these pictures and become a fan of Heidi Van Horne the way I have. She’s got it all in my humble opinion!  There’s more to see in her MyRideisMe.com Pinup Picture Gallery and you can find her at her Facebook Fan Page or of course at her home page: www.HeidiVanHorne.com

I’ll leave you with this last strikingly beautiful shot of Heidi and her truck Molly by VivaVanStory.

Curves: Custom 50′s Merc and Pinup Masuimi Max

November 26, 2009 by · 3 Comments

2010 Pin up Girl Wall Calendars

Yucca Valley may be a bit off the beaten path. Some might just call it a road-trip checkpoint rather than a destination. Maybe after you see this 1950 Mercury built by The Hot Rod Shop in Yucca Valley, you might turn this checkpoint-town into a destination-town of your own.

Hot Rod merc with hot rod Pinup Masuimi Max

Not only does Toby Stanford, owner, put out some damn good lookin’ cars for customers, he’s also got quite a collection of his own. Lucky for all of you he let us, including the lovely pinup model Masuimi Max, take a peek around his garage.

Mercury Custom Hot Rod and Pin up Masuimi MaxOther than the beautiful lines we all drool over when looking at a well-chopped Mercury, one of the first things you might notice here is this Merc’s subtle yet striking paint job. No, your eyes are not tricking you. It is black on black – gloss flames on suede paint. For all the attention that’s been given to primer jobs as of late, this is a new twist to an old classic. And while you may have seen one or two other such jobs, Toby assures us that when he finished this car in December 2007, it was the first he’d ever seen of its kind. Who wouldn’t want to implement this idea on their own hot rod, though?

This Mercury has a few other goodies as well. Start with a 6” chop, DeSoto grill, stock bumpers, and frenched headlights and antennae. Throw on some Pontiac taillights in the rear. Add Mustang front seats, a continuous console, and a ’59 Chevy steering wheel along with plenty of pinstriping done by Ben Demon on the interior. But even with all its good looks, this Mercury’s built with driving in mind. So under the hood you’ve got a simple 350 Chevy giving ya power, backed up by a 350 transmission and a Ford 9” rear-end. In addition this car is bagged on all 4’s.

Hot Rod Pinup Masuimi Max with slick, flat black Merc kustomUntil he sold it recently, Toby says the Merc was his errand-running car around town. And although Toby didn’t have plans to sell it, when someone comes knocking on your door wanting to give you money, it’s hard to turn em’ down. Unfortunately the new owner isn’t enjoying the car as much. As Toby quotes, he’s “too afraid to take it out.”

Let’s hope that on the next try Toby will keep it and continue rollin’ around the streets of Yucca Valley. Or, if it’s not him, we’ll see more of the cars put out by The Hot Rod Shop of Yucca Valley out there driving.

“I don’t draw them out the way some car builders do,” says Toby. “It’s just the way I figured it up.” Well Toby, we like the way you figure it, and hope we get to see more of The Hot Rod Shop’s work in the future.

This isn’t the only car in Toby’s shop. From this shot outside, you can see a few of the trick rides he’s building for himself and customers. You can see just about all of them in the pinup model picture page.

There’s a few more pics of his work in pinup picture gallery for Masuimi. These 3 look so great, I had to show them here. (the t-bird in the back’s not bad either!) Click on any of these pics to see it full size.
