Straight from sunny Socal and from the lens of pinup photographer Mitzi, welcome Erica Vaughn our October Pinup of the month. Erica’s revealing a little of what she likes in an interview along with her sweet smile and devilishly red hair!

How did you get into pinup Modeling?
I was watching alot of Charlie Chaplin silent films. I am a huge fan of Charlie Chaplin! He’s directed alot of amazing actresses like Lillian Gish, Clara Bow, and many more. By watching those wonderful women I just fell in love with the 1930′s and 1940s… I’ve looked up to many of these inspiring women throughout there career; They’re very funny, energetic, and outrageously beautiful in all their pictures. After being a fan for many years I wanted to pursue pinup/retro/fetish modeling… so I did… and I LOVE IT!!!
What is your favorite car show to attend and why?
My favorite car show of coarse is the Viva Las Vegas Weekender! I love this car show because there are so many events happening all the time: the fashion show, car show, rockabilly bands, burlesque show, pin up contest, etc… Viva is also in the best place ever LAS VEGAS!!!!
What makes a hot rod “cool” to you?
For me a cool car is a custom exterior or interior that carries a theme or is completely different… cars that will catch my eye and also have to have alot of power!
What is your favorite car?
My fave car is a 1935 Buick hearse with a big block engine… super hot!
Best pick up line.
My best pickup line? I really don’t have a best pick up line… but I do hear a couple of pickup lines like, “Is that your real red hair?” or ” How often do you dye your hair?”
Favorite pinup photo shoot you’ve done so far
It’s hard to pick a favorite… I’ve met and worked with plenty of wonderful photographers that I’ve been lucky to make fabulous friendships with… I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. If I could choose an ideal photo shoot it’d be with someone I’ve never worked with before that has a energetic personality and is crazy-fabulous… hahaha
Favorite music.
Old school metal! I would like to thanks my parents for introducing me at an early age to rock… I also love a lot of underground and old school punk!
Guys: Sweet and romantic or the bad boy?
I like both guys. I like the bad boys that are interesting and keep me on my toes, but when I wanna stay in and cuddle the sweet and romantic guys are perfect…
Goal in life
My goal in life is to complete my register nursing license and continue with school for my nurse practitioner license specializing in pediatrics.
Favorite vacation destination
I haven’t been there yet but I am surely working on it but I do want to go visit Ireland and meet new people and learn allot from their culture!
Any stupid human tricks?!
I wouldn’t really say I have a human trick but I am double jointed…
Cruisin’ the strip or roaring down the 1/4 mile?
-ROARING down the 1/4 mile!
Most attractive quality in a man?
Has to be a man that knows a lot about building hot rods and muscle cars… so he can teach me… hahah
Who’s your Dream date?
My dream date’s a guy who likes to have fun, who is energetic, who makes me laugh, who know hows to rock, and also can hold his liquor.

Heatin’ Up at Mooneyes Summer Show

Today the sun was shining and the heat was on at Irwindale Speedway for Mooneyes Summer Show and Drag 2010! I really like this show because its got variety. Sunday’s show not only had a good turnout of cars but there was also drag racing!
While its always cool to see to see any cars drag race, I only wish that more of the “normal” cars would’ve rumbled their way to the 1/8 mile dragstrip. Wouldn’t it have been great if these two works of art sacrificed some rubber on the track!?!
The heat got turned up a little more when pinups Shelby Loveland and Lisa Luxe rolled on the scene. (Shelby’s been known to turn a wrench or two also!)
All that heat was cooled off by this sleek custom convertible.
Smokin’ hot or ice cold, Mooneyes Summer Show 2010 was a good time. Plenty of cars and friends to go around. Speakin’ of going around…my personal favorite part of the day was having to park out in the middle of the race track.
As I went to leave, I couldn’t resist taking a lap. My 1960 Ford Falcon is only a six cylinder, but a girl can always dream! Would Mooncaps make Falcon go faster??? Hmmm…
May Pinup of the Month – Sabina Kelley

Hot Rod Pinup Sabina Kelly
Standing tall at 5’10″ at the top of the pinup modeling ranks (or close to it!) is May’s Pinup of the Month, Sabina Kelley.
Sabina Kelley the pinup can be seen all over in magazines and calendars, but she’s reaching beyond now modeling internationally, in TV and music videos, too. She’s been modeling for 10 years now, so there’s not much she hasn’t done in front of the camera.
So much more than a pretty face, she’s a professionally trained dancer as well with ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and pointe (you know, on the tip of your toes…) dancing on her resume. She started as a ballerina in a small town but her talent and long flowing gorgeous-ness soon took her to Sin City where she performed as a showgirl in “Jubilee” for over 2 years at Ballys Hotel. It’s no surprise then that she’s training for her own burlesque dance show to debut soon. (we’ll watch for it!)
After alot of trying and help from MyRideisMe.com friend and fellow Pinup Heidi Van Horne, I finally caught up with Sabina and asked her a few questions. Here’s what she said:
In case you didn’t know, Sabina’s opened her own tattoo shop called Bombshell Tattoo Parlor. I said, Why the tattoo shop? Are you an artist or just a big fan of tatoos? My husband and I own two tattoo shops. One is Staytrue Tattoo Parlor (www.MySpace.com/StaytrueTattooParlor) and the other one is Bombshell Tattoo Parlor. I also own a laser tattoo removal business called Bombshell Tattoo Removal (www.BombshellTattooRemoval.com) My husband is a tattoo artist, and I only do tattoo removal. They are both equally busy.
Have you always been into cars? Why the 65 Impala? Is it your daily driver? How is it My Ride is Me? Yes, I have always been into cars. I model with a lot of hot rods and really like hot rods, but my love is for lowriders. My 65′ Impala is not my daily driver. It could be, but I do not have air conditioning in it yet, and with it being up to 120 degrees in Vegas in the summer, that is no good for a baby in the car. I love my Impala. She is a good car, super stylish, is always turning heads, but needs alot of attention, and is a hard worker. Which I guess is kinda like me. Ha ha. She runs in the cold winter and the hot summer. Right now my car is a tourqoise color, but I am going to paint her soon a sparkly pink, plus it will make her different. I have never seen a 65′ Impala like mine that is sparkly pink. That way my husband will not want to drive her anymore.
Sabina’s own bio says it best: “Sabina is a model, business women, wife and mother, and she manages to do it all with grace and style.” No doubt.

Ladies of Viva Las Vegas 2

Kristabelle, don’t shoot!
Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender is no doubt it’s own car show. The cars get checked before entering so there’s no billet anything or any car built after sixty-something. But it’s the people and more specifically the wandering pinups that make the show. Who doesn’t love Hot Rod Pinups!
Burlesque Performer Sophia Sirena
If you’re watching closely, you’ll see well known pinups like Heidi Van Horne and Dayna Delux enjoying the show, but they’re generally not posing. I guess you could say they’ve “made it” and get paid when they’re shot. Dayna teamed up with Sabina Kelly to host a “Bottles and Pinup Models” night at the Foundation Room at the Mandalay Bay and Heidi’s doing a little bit of everything. She’s acting, directing, writing a blog for the Houston Chronicle… she’s busy but just as sweet as ever!
Viva’s become a hot spot for pinup models and the photographers that make their living shooting pinup. This is Mitzi Valenzuela from Mitziandco.com shooting one of many pinup models on the long (Wednesday to Sunday) weekend. Mitzi’s contributed quite a bit to MyRideisMe.com and has shot with just about every well known pinup out there, so if you’re looking for a photographer, she’s a great place to start.
Roy Vargas is another pro pinup photographer. I just met him at the show and wanted to give proper credit for bogarting (like the dude shooting in this picture) on his organized shoot with the gorgeous red head Gia Genevieve. I posted her picture in this story. I’d love to feature Gia as Pinup of the Month!
So if you’re a fan of pinup models, the retro scene and hot rods and customs of all kinds, Viva’s a show for you. We’ll see you there early in early April of 2011, so until then, enjoy these shots and the pictures in the Ladies of Viva II.
