Christmas Pinup of the Month – Heidi Van Horne
It’s a rare treat to find a gorgeous pinup model like Heidi Van Horne who’s also a great story about why, “My Ride is Me”. That’s why Heidi’s a holiday gift for you from MyRideisMe.com and our Christmas Season “Pinup of the Month”.
One thing you’ll notice in quite a few pictures in Heidi’s Pinup Picture Gallery is the tan colored F100 named “Molly” that Heidi owns, drives and even wrenches on! (click to see each picture full size)
So of course, I had to ask, Why Molly? Heidi said, “I don’t know. I don’t ever know why a car or truck’s name is what it is. It just tells me one day. No clue!”
Like most of us, Heidi got into cars from family: “I grew up working on cars to keep ‘em running, with my dad and brother. I had to work on them to get to work and school, no glory in it, just a matter of life! ;) But it gave me an appreciation for the mechanics of it all and wishing for one like my dad talked about having when he was a kid.” She continued, “I love vintage trucks, so when this one just came along, I felt it was meant to be mine.”
“Molly’s My Ride is Me because… She’s tough, sweet, sturdy and time-tested, but cute and fun. I love Molly!”

You’ll notice by scanning the web for Heidi Van Horne, she’s got range! Her looks range from friendly, approachable, girl next store sweetheart:

Then Heidi changes things up some for a seriously hot shoot for YRB Magazine:

So it’s no surprise that Heidi’s done some acting and is also a writer. She’s got a regular column with the Houston Chronicle online here www.chron.com (to find her, search “Heidi Van Horne” on the main page). If you’re in Houston, catch her working the Houston Auto Show January 30-31 for the Houston Chronicle.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these pictures and become a fan of Heidi Van Horne the way I have. She’s got it all in my humble opinion! There’s more to see in her MyRideisMe.com Pinup Picture Gallery and you can find her at her Facebook Fan Page or of course at her home page: www.HeidiVanHorne.com
I’ll leave you with this last strikingly beautiful shot of Heidi and her truck Molly by VivaVanStory.

Photos in the pinup gallery by: Shannon Brooke, Marco Patino, Justice Howard, Octavio Arizala, Danielle Bedics, Ama Lea, Dale Rio, and David Lena. Thanks to these photographers and of course Heidi for sharing them.

June Pinup of the Month – Zoe Scarlett
June 14, 2009 by pikesan · 3 Comments
I first bumped into Ms. Zoe Scarlett while looking for a great hot rod pinup picture to use for the very first MyRideisMe.com flier ever made. Graphic artist and Photographer Dirk Behlau kindly let the tiny web start-up use his image. That black hot rod with stunning blond featured Zoe Scarlett who is now the June Pinup of the Month.
* How’d you become a pinup? Is pinup big in Switzerland?
I took my first pin-up pictures in my boyfriend’s garage on a very cold day in January. I wanted to surprise him with some cute pictures when he returned from his holiday. I never thought that this would be my future career! At the same time, Switzerland’s most famous newspaper, BLICK, advertised a contest called ‘the cutest neighbor’.
I spontaneously decided to take part in the contest and sent in the pictures I’d made for my boyfriend. Two days later, there was a huge picture of me on the cover of Switzerland’s BLICK! Well, that was the beginning of my pin-up modeling career!
* What’s your favorite pinup picture ever?
That’s a hard question, during my career as a pin up model and burlesque performer I’ve been booked for a lot of shootings, every single one has a special place in my memory. The first shooting with Dirk Behlau in Hockenheim, where I was wearing a with dress and I was in front of a red 32 pick up was great, I also appreciated my first beach shooting with Ama Lea in L.A. I also liked working with animals for my calendar. It was fascinating to work with a leopard, spider snakes, camels and others.
* Are you into cars and the pinup “culture” or is it just a job?
My passion for the 1950’s lifestyle and classic cars began at a very young age. As a child, I was taken to flea markets, car shows and races with my family. I spent a lot of my spare time at my Dad’s Speed Shop. My mom is a passionate 50’s furniture and accessory collector and my older brother lives in Florida and works as a mechanic for a Racing Team. So I was kind of born in to it.
* What’s a funny thing about you that nobody’d ever guess???
I use to be a mechanic in a drag race team for about 2 years. We traveled around Europe whit a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air the team was called Roofers Toy ;)
* What are you working on now?
As a pinup model I represent premium brands. As a example for the world-brand “Cynar” (Campari Gruppo), I started an exclusive burlesque-show called the Cynarina. With an erotic, glamorous and stirring mixture of vaudeville, show and musical I put a spell on my audience. In an oversized “Cynar-glass” I perform the art of burlesque in perfection.
Where can we see more of your pinup hotness?
You should book one of my Burlesque shows, then you can see me wherever you want!

Pinup Dreams Made True in Vegas
2010 Pin-up Girl Wall Calendars
This story was written by Dave or elmoco40 in his MyRideisMe garage. It’s a story of a guy finding love and hot rods! It’s bring a tear to your eye if Dave’s wife, Larua Lee weren’t so hot!
This is exactly the kind of story we want at MyRideisMe.com! Great times, get’n the girl, what else is there? For Dave’s efforts, I’m sending him a pack of Pinup Playing Cards by Heidi Van Horne and Sabina Kelly. Look for a contest soon where you can win your set of pinup playing cards, or just send us your ideas!
I grew up in so. Cal, in the town of Santa Ana, CA. Growing up I was surrounded by a lot of lowriders and kustoms that were owned by local clubs and gangs. I was always fascinated by the elaborate paint jobs and the use of hydraulics on there cars, so when I was old enough to know what a wrench was and how to operate a spray can, I began my journey into ripping things apart and trying to somehow make’em different, whether it was bikes or big wheels, something was getting slammed and painted.
When I got into high school in 1978-79, I landed a job as a gas station attendant at a mobile gas station; there I learned basic mechanics by helping the guys work on stuff. Another kool thing that I discovered in 1980 was punk rock and the underground rockabilly scene! So now my little knowledge of cars and the music scene collided and so the kustom kulture scene was born. I feel totally blessed to be part of that emerging scene!
Although I was to poor to afford any kind of hot rod, I did the next best thing; I dated somebody who had a brother with one! lol. One of my 1st real girlfriends had an older brother who owned a beautiful 53 Merc, he called ”Maybelline”. It was all original and baby blue! Some of my best memories involved that car! It was so kool to be 16 -17 years old and pull up to a rockabilly show in that, it was rare back then!
Well of course time passed and the mid to late 80’s got weird and the scene kinda died, everybody kinda went there own ways? So fast forward to 1989, after many attempts to try and talk my newly retired parents to not move to Las Vegas, they did anyways? Go figure? Well after visiting them a few times, in 1991, I was at a point in my life where I needed a change so I decided to go stay with them and help them out? Well its funny how God has a plan for us, because after being there 6 mo., I met my beautiful wife Laura, it only took me a few dates to figure out, that this gal was thee one!
Laura Lee was beautiful and sweet and very artistic, I mean she had a beat up vVW bug she painted herself. It was hilarious? Plus she is a 3rd generation native, very rare, I mean her mom actually dated Elvis Presley in the 60’s, how crazy is that! So in 1993, we got hitched and in 1994 we had our 1st kid, wow!

So there I was, newly married, with a new baby, living in a new town, talk about anxiety attacks!
Then in 1996 a new music show was comin to town and there was a pre 1963 car show attached to it, it was called ” The Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender“, I was in shock and stoked at the same time! This past year was the 12th VLV event, and I’ve been to them all, and in my opinion the 1st 5 years were the best. When the car show was on top of the garage and there was no curfew and a lot less jerks causing trouble! But it’s still a lot of fun, and now I have a gorgeous wife, who does a little pin up modeling and a kool car to show off!

May Pinup of the Month – Candace Campbell
May 13, 2009 by pikesan · 4 Comments
I saw Ms. Candace at the Pinupalooza show during Viva Las Vegas, but I didn’t know it since she didn’t have the stunning red hair in the picture below. Plus, when flanked by hotties like Sabina Kelly, Dayna Delux and Heidi Van Horne, it’s easy to get distracted. None the less we’re friends now and here’s some info about May’s Pinup of the Month: Candace Campbell.
I was born in a small Louisiana parish. You’re looking at a genuine born and raised southern belle.
Since I was little I’ve been amazed by the mysterious blues lounge singers of new Orleans and fascinated with the glamorous vintage Hollywood and retro pin up style of the 40s. This explains why I am able to capture that classic essence so comfortably. I am a mix of the two worlds.
I was inspired by the bravery of elegance of Bettie Page, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn to name a few. I began collecting vintage clothes from the 1920’s through the 1950’s and learned about the details of dressing vintage from head to toe. I found out that not only were women dressed perfectly, but the underlying fashion was so much more interesting than today! In fact, it led to my first shoot.
I decided to take some classic pinup shots in 40’s lingerie as a present for my loves birthday. Soon after, by chance an important lady saw those pictures and I was asked to test shoot for Playboy Magazine. This was the start of my modeling career. I now specialize in Pinup and high fashion modeling. My love for the vintage style also led me to be a hairstylist so I’m now a celebrity stylist specializing in pinup and Hollywood glamor styles. I been blessed to work with some of the best models, celebrities, photographers, make up artist, hair and wardrobe stylists, magazines and burlesque dancers in the world.
I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, where I have been taking Sin City by storm with my sexy pictures. I am available for shoots and willing to travel anywhere with expenses paid. Please just let us know!
What about Pinupalooza?
Phantom Entertainment’s behind PINUPALOOZA at the Harmon Theater during every Viva Las Vegas car show. With Celebrity Hosts and Pinup Girls “Sabina Kelley”, “Dayna Delux” and “Candace Campbell”. The 2009 event featured 2 very special burlesque performances by the lovely “Anabel Of The Ball” along with musical stylings of DJ Slick. Dayna, Sabina and Candace were also signing prints and calandars. Us 3 girls host it every year but for 2009, we had rockabilly band “Will and the High Rollers”.
For 2010 we plan on making it even bigger by having more burlesque includind a special performance by Sabina Kelley and 3 additional guest pinup appearances as well. We might have another rockabilly band. Everything’s falling into place now, but we’re keeping the models and burlesque ladies a secret as of now… We promise its gonna be the best pinupalooza yet!

Ladies of Viva Las Vegas
April 26, 2009 by pikesan · Leave a Comment
One of the fun and from what I’ve seen fairly unique parts of the Viva Las Vegas car show is the girls! Some of them professional pinups like the lovely Kim Falcon pictured here, and some of them girls trying to be pinups or just out having a good time!
Whatever the motivation, we like!
As you cruised the show, you’d see these girls done up pinup-like or sometimes just looking hot and when they’d stop at a car, the cameras would come out like crazy and a near mob-scene started as everyone tried to get their own shots. They should just come to MyRideisMe.com, it saves on film! (duh, I know)
So check out Paul Swanson (Swanee@myrideisme.com) my man and chief photo madman’s new Ladies of Viva gallery. He’s got photos all over the place and a really nice garage filled with his favorite pics. Contact him if you want one of the photos, especially a high resolution or something without the MyRideisMe logo. He’s cool like that.
If we caught you walking around, let us know!
2009 Viva Las Vegas Car Show – See for Yourself
April 15, 2009 by pikesan · 8 Comments
As a Viva LasVegas car show virgin, I drove blindly into a sea of horseshit opinions about what the Rockabilly Weekender is… without first hand experience, I checked and heard varying opinions about the show, especially about what I’m most interested in, the strolling pinups… no, scratch that, the hot rods! Just like the saying goes, everyone’s got an opinion and I have to say, most of what I heard STANK! Living in Arizona, and only about 5 hours from Las Vegas, I decided to roll up and check for myself. (so here’s my opinion… keep the air-freshener handy)
First off, what had I heard about the Viva Las Vegas Car Show or “Rockabilly Weekender” as it’s called? I heard the quality of cars sucked. NOT true. I heard it wasn’t a fun crowd. Also not true. Then, even though I’m not a big rockabilly fan, I did enjoy the music… and I only got to hear what was played outside at the car show.
About the rides… The cars I found were almost all right up my alley. Nobody goes to a car show and only finds what they like, but if you’re into DRIVEN cars that are owned by guys that eat, sleep and shit cars, then you will find cars you like at Viva Las Vegas. I guess I expected to see a bunch of the bare-bones type “rat rods”, cause that’s what I was told.
Defining rat rod at this point is downright boring, but what I mean is cars built without basic necessities like for example, a floor. Cruising with a u-joint spinning next to my hand and ass is not my idea of fun. But that’s not what I found! I found tough looking hot rods with rough edges, but done purposefully. Leaving a weld unfinished like what I found in this low-slung sedan in the picture was cool and different.
Then, in addition to the hot rods and (screw the word rat) traditional style rods, the customs on hand were great. Chopped, dropped, some painted, some not, but all with the attention to detail that is exactly what, My Ride is Me is all about. This slick 53 Chevy 210 Sedan custom shown here was DAMN rusty… but who cares! The character was unmistakable and you won’t see this thing wasting away in a garage somewhere! For me, the cars were the stars of the show and will bring me back next year, hopefully driving my falcon wagon.
Picture of all the hot rod and custom cars at the Viva Las Vegas Car show will be uploaded soon.
From here, there’s much more to say, but It’ll wait for another blog.
The Story’s DONE! Look at Ladies of Viva! Viva Las Vegas is known for the pinup and generally vintage-style girls strolling around and either digging the scene or for a smile and a “would-ya-please” they’ll stand next to your ride and strike a pose. Swanee shot a bunch of girls doing their thing and we’ll post them in the Hot Rod Pinups Gallery soon.
(Swanee! Get to work!)
MyRideisMe.com is also starting our own Pinstriping photo gallery. Use it as a reference for your own ride or to teach yourself different styles or techniques of striping, lettering or logos and characters. I dig pinstriping and wish I could do it myself. Since that’s probably not in the cards, shooting pics of the great many examples of pinstriping at Viva Las Vegas car show was a natural!
The first set of pictures are now loaded. More coming soon! (want your work featured?) Here’s more info about the pinstiping art gallery.
Also look for great show coverage from Kristin or “Grease Girl”. She was at the show and made alot of new friends with pinups and other women enjoying the show. She’s also gonna fill us in on the drive she made in her hot rod Studebaker.
Finally, why was Viva Las Vegas a great show? It was easy for car folks to enjoy! Instead of gouging car owners, the price of the car show was included in the 4 day price of the show. That included all the bands, the burlesque shows and admission to the Tiki Pool party. Why do other shows make the cars pay extra? Great job!! The Viva crowd dominated the Orleans hotel bars and tables all having a good time. For the car show itself, it was only five-bucks to enter! The line of people stretched 200 long waiting to get in, and when they did, they still had extra cash to spend on the many quality vendors. That’s the way to do it. Cool hot rods and customs, the strolling pinups looking hot and live music with friends. What else is there? (oh, cold beer! Thanks Throttle Kings!)
So what’s your opinion? Did you enjoy yourself? Will you be there next year? Will you recommend it as a “Must Show” for next year? Let us know…

March Pinup of the Month – Angela Ryan
March 2, 2009 by Mitzi · 2 Comments
Forward by Pikesan:
Cruising the Grand National Roadster show and having a great time with my photo partner Swanee, we both stopped in our tracks when we saw the amazingly beautiful Angela Ryan posing next to a super cool laid-out custom owned by Geno Dipol the publisher from Ol’ Skool Rodz. Shortly after we caught our breath and moved through the crowd, we noticed our friend Mitzi shooting the pics. That’s when I knew Angela would be our very next Pinup of the Month. Working with Mitzi is great cause she’s a fantastic photographer (cars and pinups!) and she’s professional and fun to work with at the same time. I’m lucky to have her help with these photos and interview with Angela. Thanks Mitzi! (http://www.MitziandCo.com)

David Perry’s Pinup Book goes to DVD: Hot Rod Pinups
February 12, 2009 by pikesan · 2 Comments
Written by: Erock805 (Erick’s Garage)
It opens like a shot, not knowing the music, it felt like motor head, loose, violent, and melodic and real…what you see is what you hear…a front engine rail blitzing through the lights. Smoke and raw fuel and flame blasting from the pipes…you can almost feel it in your chest. The track lights lit up the night just like you remember they did. You can almost smell the nitro… Perfect!
At this point, I am not even thinking about the pleasures of the flesh I am about to witness. All I can think about is the first time I heard that sound, felt the thunder and cried in joy as the fumes burned my eyes…
David Perry…creator of Hot Rod Pinups, the DVD, my new hero.
Then came little Ruby Rae, and a song that defined what I was witness to…a real live girl. Ruby quickly reminded me what I was here for. I’m watching a pinup video… a first for me. Sure, I’ve watched a ton of hot rod flicks, and gasser movies, they usually have a couple models, but never a video featuring pinups…
Back to Ruby Rae, once she started working about the shop, I quickly forgot all about the nitro. In fact her opening silhouette was enough to make me wanna propose. I bet that wouldn’t go over to well with the current luckiest girl in the world… Princess. Who am I kidding…no way, I ain’t gotta a chance. Plus I’m not sure any other girl in the world would have the patience to put up with me and my 5 car habit.
Back to the show…Hot Rod Pinups is the Real Deal. Real cars, real life style and real ladies. The ladies are not the waif plastic Paris Hilton ladies so mainstream today. Nope, real live girls that are all hot rod: Beautiful curves, lines and features – Ladies that have style, comfort and strength. A moving experience.
Now I am no rockabilly king, I am a rocker, a metal head yet I enjoy most music and I know what’s good. So believe me when I tell you this soundtrack has something for everyone, its ruff, melodic and surprising. The tunez from Gearhead Records fits the scene on the screen better than most of the Vids I have seen. There are few things worse than watching a good video and not being able to tell one song from the next and for Hot Rod Pinups, each song, while in the same genre, transitions well. The mix breaks up the babe-mania, and adds depth to the experience. It takes you up and down and all around town. I need this sound track for my ride.
Everything about this flick kicks. The Sets are real. The tattoo and auto shops, parties, drags, and Bonneville are suited perfectly for the fair pinup vixens that drive us wild! These are real venues for real girls. This DVD is well put together and everything worked: locations, sets, wardrobe, cinematography and tunez. It all comes together like pb and j. its right so go getchya one!
Gearhead Records is my new brand…well done Mr. Perry I dug it. I wonder if I can continuous loop a DVD?
You can grab the DVD and Hot Rod Pinups I & II all from Amazon.com. The DVD was listed at $18 bucks and the books are both around $23.
December Pinup of the Month – Frenchy La Femme
December 5, 2008 by pikesan · 2 Comments
I first found this pinup beauty in a set of pictures from my friend and professional photographer Justice Howard. Justice shot some pics of Frenchy La Femme getting pinstriped on her chest. The picture is steaming hot, no doubt about it. Those pics are shown in the Pinup Pinstriping post.
I contacted Frenchy through her myspace page to be December’s Pinup of the Month.
This photo was taken by a friend! His name is Chris and he’s a self taught dude with a good eye. He’s also a car builder. Frenchy tells me he’s,”a unique individual with style in the custom culture car scene.” I wonder if that’s his car?
So does Frenchy like cars?
“Hot rods, lead sleds, ranfflas, rat rods whatever you call your ride- I love them all. My dream car would be a ’49 Chevy pick up truck- Pink satin with a white pearl flake top- very frenchy- I know…a Desoto front end grill and Packard headlights! Any fella out there who is willing to make any suggestion please send me little message.”
What’d you think when you were getting your chest pinstriped? He’s kinda in a private area on you!
“Oh, I was a bit nervous because that was my first time being photograph by the amazing Justice Howard- when she suggested to do a pinstriped sequence I was a bit hesitant at first but luckily I ended up knowing Pauly the pinstripe artist. It was actually a cool experience incorporating different styles of visual art. You can check out his work: www.myspace.com/pauly_olvidalo”
Jenny Sophia is my name but I am also known as Frenchy La Femme, a name very suitable for the kind of gal that I am- I am Mexican-German, Spanish Basque-Arabic descent. I love animals and anything and everything French. As a kid I used think that all babies came from Paris. I enjoy modeling, shopping, music, traveling, meeting new people, and delicious chocolate.”
See more of Frechy in MotorCult’s Motor Girl Calendar (I’m on the cover and the month of May or June- not sure) Check it out and get yourself a copy!! There’s plenty of vivacious ladies gracing the pages of this awesome calendar featuring more photography from Justice Howard. If you’re in the LA area you can meet Frenchy at the Calendar realese party on January 23 at the Pin Up Lounge in Downtown LA.
There’s more pics of Frenchy in Justice Howards Pinup gallery here at MyRideisMe.com
