Welder Series does custom jobs too
Part of what we enjoy doing here is custom jobs. These are fun not only because it's exciting to see the finished product, but also because of what it takes to get there.
From "napkin parts" to cereal box templates, all the way to emailed CAD drawings, we've seen it all. If we've noticed a common thread weaving it's way through our customers, it's the appreciation of a quality finished piece, not necessarily how it was conceived.
People keep commenting on the edge quality of our laser cut parts, and how there's no slag to chip off, no grinding to clean the edge so you can weld it, and that every piece that's supposed to be the same actually is the same.
If you have an idea for a part, bracket, or even something you feel will make your life easier, head over to your local diner with a pen, grab a few napkins, and start designing. When you're done, call us toll free and we'll figure out how to turn your napkin into a hot rod part. Well, we're not magicians or anything, but you may be pleasantly surprised at the quality and price.
It doesn't cost anything to quote...
Attached are some examples of custom work we've done. The oval piece is a driveshaft hoop that the customer wanted to work in to his 2x2 center section. He's going to use polished stainless button head bolts. His first thought was to put the bolt right through and put a nut on the other end, but as my dad and I were looking at it, we thought it would look slick with only the bolt heads showing. We tapped the spacers, and the bolts go in from both sides.
Another local customer drops in almost every week with a custom job. I covered some of his work in a past TTDWAB newsletter. Check it out here. He usually gets us to make three or four sets of whatever it is, so he can resell them and make back the cost of his part. He's had us make everything from brackets to integrate Shockwaves into a stock Buick IFS to custom serpentine system brackets.
Looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with on napkins across the country (and around the world).
