painting my 67

in the process of prepping my 67 for new paint job.

I`am still undecided if the car will stay white. The car will be totally torn down, but not so called frame off. I always spray the car with oil before I store it for the winter, so I see no point in painting the undercarrige.Note that this 43 year old car is totaly rust free.

I replaced the interior last year with new seat foams for front buckets and new seat covers front and rear from a company called Legendary,I was extremly impressed with the prodct this company provided, the price was also fair. The carpet was also replaced. I completed the job myself with the assistance of my son in-law and my dad...none of us had previous experience in upholstry work. The new Interior is awesome. We took our time and are extremly impressed with the results. Mind you we started of with a quality product. I kept the original blue colour. I did not change the door panels because they are in very good condition, the roof liner is also in very good condition.

Getting back t the paint job. I removed all exterior chrome and stainless mouldings, bumpers, grill, head lights and head light pots, everything that is not painted is removed. The engin and Transmission will also be removed. All under hood wire and fire wall accesories will also be removed, so a fresh coat of paint can be installed. The new interior will be removed. The glass will all stay...there is no rust issues with the windshields so again I see no reason for their removal. All of the screws and small items were placed in freezer bags and taged, It took me 2 days to completly strip the exterior and interior of my car in my 1 1/2 car garage.I expect to have the engine and trans out in a mornings work, with the assistance of my 80 year old father.Don`t laugh most of my 20 something year old nephews cant keep up with dad for more than 1/2 hour. Dad we call him pere... he has 8 children...I sometimes call him papa spurm, has helped turn the wrenches on my rides since I was 16. I am now 57, so thats a lot of rides. Peres a mechanic by trade.

Anyway I will attach some photos  of the dis-assembly in the near future, and after that on to the bodyshop portion of my story.
