By 3am we\u2019d passed through Wendover and found an empty space at \u201cThe Bend\u201d(the aptly named bend in the road just before getting to the Bonneville Salt Flats.) Gord Driedger and his \u201cSlippery Stude\u201d have arrived on the salt with a new engine. It\u2019s still a flathead \u2013 they\u2019re hoping to get up past their 157 mph time of last year.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Weighting-Studebaker-Pickup-for-Salt-Falt-Racing.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[16725]\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16737\" style=\"margin: 4px; But the Speed by Spectre pit was full of all sorts of activity. They\u2019re looking to<a title=\"Record Breaking Plan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/bonneville-speed-week-2011\/\" target=\"_blank\"> beat five records this year <\/a>\u2013 and this crew has their hands full with preparations on this massive streamliner.
