I have to say late model cars (unfortunately) dominate at the SEMA Show. If you heard that and said, &#8220;WHAT??&#8221; Then let me clue you in. Sock refers to SOHC or single over head cam. You&#8217;ll also hear it called a &#8220;Cammer&#8221; motor refering again to the overhead cam design. Ford, in the glory days of racing, back in 1964, set forth on the world one of it&#8217;s most glorious creations. Why? (besides why not!) They were merely trying to compete with the Chrysler 426 HEMI at the track. What&#8217;s the harm in that?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/2013-SEMA-1932-hot-rod-roadster-1.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[25144]\"><img class=\"alignnone  wp-image-25150\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" title=\"1932 Hot Rod Roadster at SEMA Show 2013 - SOHC Powered Hot Rod!\" alt=\"1932 ford roadster, Hot Rod Roadster, SEMA Show 2013 cars, ford SOHC\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/2013-SEMA-1932-hot-rod-roadster-1.jpg\" width=\"575\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Ford Single Overhead Cam (SOHC) 427 engine\u00a0left the drawing board based on the hipo 427 side-oiler block where race-proven durability was well established. Except for not having a cam inside&#8230; the block was mostly the same, but the heads&#8230; oh the heads!!\u00a0The SOHC heads were brand new featuring hemispherical combustion chambers and the well known single camshaft with shaft mounted rockers.\u00a0Yes, the &#8220;hemi&#8221; design wasn&#8217;t exclusively used by Mopar&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/2013-SEMA-1932-hot-rod-roadster-4.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[25144]\"><img class=\"alignnone  wp-image-25150\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" title=\"1932 Hot Rod Roadster at SEMA Show 2013 - SOHC Powered Hot Rod!\" alt=\"1932 ford roadster, Hot Rod Roadster, SEMA Show 2013 cars, ford SOHC\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/2013-SEMA-1932-hot-rod-roadster-4.jpg\" width=\"575\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a TRUE thing of beauty to see, only overshadowed by the sound. When you hear one, you&#8217;ll know and I&#8217;m working with <a title=\"High Performance Clutches\" href=\"http:\/\/www.centerforce.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Centerforce Clutch<\/a> to get a video of this bad boy on the dyno! I heard and estimated 650-700 horsepower!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/2013-SEMA-1932-hot-rod-roadster-5.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[25144]\"><img class=\"alignnone  wp-image-25150\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" title=\"1932 Hot Rod Roadster at SEMA Show 2013 - SOHC Powered Hot Rod!\" alt=\"1932 ford roadster, Hot Rod Roadster, SEMA Show 2013 cars, ford SOHC\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/2013-SEMA-1932-hot-rod-roadster-5.jpg\" width=\"575\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In case you hadn&#8217;t guessed&#8230; I was pretty impressed with the powertrain&#8230; but, overall, this is a great looking car! As one of the very first hot rods I saw on the show floor, I couldn&#8217;t help stopping to take pictures. The paint, the interior&#8230; GREAT hot rod stance. It&#8217;s a winner in every way with custom details and finishing touches everywhere.
