but how about a factory turbocharged and intercooled sedan with wide fender flares, all wheel drive and four doors and a WRC (World Rally Championship) racing pedigree?<\/p>\n<p>So, you as a Hot Rod reader are a little curious, I know you are, well there&#8217;s more, keep reading&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-Cobb-Stage-II-engine-bay-view.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[9269]\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9292\" style=\"margin: 4px; border: black 2px solid;\" title=\"Subyrod's Cobb Stage II 280hp engine bay \" src=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-Cobb-Stage-II-engine-bay-view.jpg\" alt=\"Subyrod's Cobb Stage II 280hp stock appearing engine bay\" width=\"575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-Cobb-Stage-II-engine-bay-view.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-Cobb-Stage-II-engine-bay-view-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-Cobb-Stage-II-engine-bay-view-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-Cobb-Stage-II-engine-bay-view-400x265.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the factory in Fuji, Japan, the Suby put out 227 HP and 215 ft-lbs TQ back in 2002 (the new 2010 WRX has 265hp).\u00a0 Here&#8217;s where the fun starts.\u00a0 This 8.0:1 compression, 2.0 liter (that&#8217;s 121 cubic inches for you old schoolers) DOHC (dual over head cams (yes, this engine has 4 cams, yikes!) flat four (that&#8217;s right, can you say baby Porsche!?\u00a0 Oh, or, maybe big aircooled Vdub) engine responds amazingly to the old school hot rodding methods, plus some new school tricks.\u00a0 Subyrod is modified to what the &#8220;ricers&#8221; call a Cobb Stage II status.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 2 is , long story short, a 3&#8243; catted turboback exhaust, catless up pipe (pipe that connects the\u00a0exhaust manifolds to the turbo), Samco inlet hoses (those red hoses in the pic above)\u00a0and a Cobb AccessPort, which has a Stage II computer map loaded to the factory ECU.\u00a0 The end result is about 2 psi more boost than stock (15 psi vs. 13.5psi) and about 280hp and 260tq.\u00a0 Not bad for a 3100lb car.\u00a0 Should be good for high 13&#8217;s in the 1\/4 mile.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrods-Buddy-Club-P1-II-wheels.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[9269]\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9302\" style=\"margin: 4px; border: black 2px solid;\" title=\"Subyrod's Buddy Club P1 II wheels ready for the touge\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrods-Buddy-Club-P1-II-wheels.jpg\" alt=\"Subyrod's Buddy Club P1 II 17x7.5 wheels ready for the touge\" width=\"575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrods-Buddy-Club-P1-II-wheels.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrods-Buddy-Club-P1-II-wheels-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrods-Buddy-Club-P1-II-wheels-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrods-Buddy-Club-P1-II-wheels-400x265.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But, the 1\/4 mile is not where this car shines.\u00a0 This car was meant for the Touge.\u00a0 Oh, sorry.\u00a0 Touge is Japanese for &#8220;mountain road&#8221;.\u00a0 Gotta drop some ricer knowledge whenever I can.\u00a0 Canyon carving is what the Suby does best.\u00a0 These are 17&#215;7.5 Buddy Club wheels with the 215\/45\/17 tires on Goldline lowering springs and KYB GR2 sport shocks and struts.\u00a0 The tires have already been replaced by 225\/45\/17 Bridgestone Potenza&#8217;s since these failed Safety Inspection.\u00a0 Dang!\u00a0 I was hoping to score some 17&#215;9&#8217;s or 18&#215;9.5&#8217;s in a few months once I needed tires, but apparently I needed tires pronto.\u00a0 Oh well, I&#8217;ll keep saving my pennies.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-interior-with-custom-shift-knob-and-Momo-steering-wheel.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[9269]\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9306\" style=\"margin: 4px; border: black 2px solid;\" title=\"Subyrod STi seats are rockin!\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-STi-interior-shot.jpg\" alt=\"Subyrod STi seats rock my face off!\" width=\"575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-STi-interior-shot.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-STi-interior-shot-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-STi-interior-shot-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-STi-interior-shot-400x265.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These are race seats for the daily grind.\u00a0 I must say (and this admits I&#8217;m a ricer), the STi seats are one of my favorite parts of this car.\u00a0 It just makes the car POP!\u00a0 Yes, STi&#8217;s color of choice is PINK!\u00a0 I know you love that GreaseGirl!\u00a0 Yes, you may sit in it at Bonneville.\u00a0 ha ha<\/p>\n<p>Also peep the shiny (aka ricer) Stainless Steel custom machined shift knob, connected to a short shifter.\u00a0 I actually bought this knob back in December when I was planning to buy a Subaru.\u00a0 I love it.\u00a0 The best $40 I may have ever spent.\u00a0 Plus its totally custom, there&#8217;s only like 50 of these knobs, mostly in Utah.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrods-front-view-with-JDM-projector-headlights.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[9269]\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9313\" style=\"margin: 4px; I had to take the car to Jon at\u00a0<a title=\"Action Alternator fixed me up good\" href=\"http:\/\/www.actionalternator.com\/p_home.asp\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">Action Alternator <\/a>in Bountiful, Utah for some electrical\/wiring repair to get my lights working\u00a0to pass the Safety Inspection.\u00a0 The drivers headlight was intermittent and high beam was out.\u00a0 I was pleasantly surprised by the final price and the quality of work.\u00a0 Thanks Jon!\u00a0 Seriously, if you guys need a rebuilt alternator or starter or vehicle wiring, these guys are good.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Subyrod-WRX-shot.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[9269]\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9315\" style=\"margin: 4px;
