href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/midnight-drift-at-rocky-mountain-raceway\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rocky Mountain Raceway&#8217;s Midnight Drift <\/a>event, I met Marco and his friend Rudy in the pits during the Midnight Drag and Drift event.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0First of all, to you hot rodders out there who don&#8217;t YET get drifting, let me tell you about the Nissan 240SX.\u00a0 In a way, this car in Japan is similar in following and cult status as a Mustang or Camaro.\u00a0 The similarities may be more than you think.\u00a0\u00a0Rear wheel drive setup, Coupe body styling, small back seat, huge aftermarket support and fun to drive status.\u00a0 The differences are aplenty as well though.\u00a0 Mustangs get a solid rear axle and V6 and V8 engines and weigh 3200-3600lbs.\u00a0 The Nissan 240SX (or 180SX or Silvia in Japan) comes with an independent rear suspension and 2.4L 4 cylinder (turbo 2.0L outside Japan) naturally aspirated truck engine in the USA and weighs about 2800lbs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Marcos-clean-S13-coupe.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[9920]\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9921\" style=\"margin: 4px; border: black 2px solid;\" title=\"Marco's clean S13 coupe at RMR's Midnight Drift\" history on the 240 for ya.\u00a0 Marco has owned his S13 (S13 is like what the Mustang guy&#8217;s equivalent of SN95 or S197 chassis codes for\u00a0the\u00a01989-94 240SX, S14 for 1995-1998 and S15 for 1999-2004) for about 6 months or so.\u00a0 He bought it for a measly $700 bucks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Marcos-S13-240sx-SE-rockin-some-Enkei-mesh-wheels.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[9920]\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9922\" asked Marco what other cars he&#8217;s owned and how he got into drifting.\u00a0 Marco said that his friends drift and that&#8217;s how he got interested.\u00a0 Besides a Nissan Pathfinder, this is Marco&#8217;s first sports coupe.\u00a0 He&#8217;s already begun modifying it to make it his own (My Ride is Me&#8230;get it?).<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 15&#215;7 Enkei mesh wheels were bought from Marco&#8217;s drifter friend.\u00a0 These are a nice old school Japanese drifting touch.\u00a0 They give it that 80&#8217;s performance style.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Marcos-S13-SE-coupe-from-the-rear.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[9920]\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9926\" style=\"margin: 4px; border: black 2px solid;\" title=\"Marco's S13 SE coupe from the rear\" coupe is the more sought after SE model, equipped with a spoiler, ABS brakes\u00a0and sunroof.\u00a0 These are Japanese taillights.\u00a0 Marco has also added lowering springs and had the rear diff welded.\u00a0 That&#8217;s right.\u00a0 Welding the diff is the amateur drifters &#8220;poor man&#8217;s posi&#8221; and it works well, until the weld gives out I guess.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myrideisme.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Marcos-first-drift-event-in-his-S13-coupe1.jpg\" Midnight Drift event was Marco&#8217;s first official (you know you&#8217;ve been playing around at industrial zones in the middle of the night haha) drift event.\u00a0 He had a good time and was just trying to get the hang of getting the car sideways.\u00a0 In all the drifting stories on MotorMavens.com and Speedhunters.com\u00a0that I read, practice is the only way to learn.\u00a0 Well, practice
