i built the vega like that back in 86 , it was my first car , only pinto that beat me on a regular basis had a turbo t-bird motor , with out the turbo , the motor was built and he added the turbo later on .

mine never left me stranded , stock vega motor too , only time i had a problem i routed the oil pressure sensor wiring wrong , and the motor torqued over and unplugged it .

car behind it is a 68 impala wagon , at the time it had a 450hp LT1 motor in it , and got on average of 22-24mpg .

AWESOME CAR! They don't style them like that anymore. I loved those cars. I loved all the cars people poke fun of, Pinto, AMC and such. Every one of them were good cars, people just didn't take care of them like they should have and that is the only reason they broke down. What's the wagon behind the Vega?
