Ride Nickname:
1965 GTO
Make:
Pontiac
Model:
GTO
Year:
1965
Introduction / Overview:
Done in Black this coupe is a thrill to drive. 389 with a turbo 400, trans brake and 4:10's. I'll admit that I went against my buddys advise and built it a bit too stout for street use.
Drivetrain:
Non original motor. It's a 65 stick motor with .30 over slugs. Butler did the 16 heads and I'm running 1.6 rockers. The 292 cam is a bit aggressive for the street but works well with the trans brake and 3600 stall converter.
Chassis:
Disc brakes on the front, boxed control arms and coil overs. Launches nice without a sway bar. 12 bolt rear end with moser axles and 4:10's.
Wheels:
Classic Torque Thrusts and street tires. I'd like to step up to a set of street slicks but worry about tearing the back end out.
Body:
Started with bare metal on a clean Colorado car. All original sheet metal (except hood). Painted with base coat / clear coat in 2001. Not a frame off but nicely detailed top to bottom.
Interioir:
Replaced all soft trim. Parchment (Ivory White) with black carpet and dash.
Lifestyles:
Muscle Cars, Build-It, Drive-It
