Remove Rear Wheel

This wheel comes off like most of the other bikes I've worked on.

1. Loosen the chain adjusters enough so that you can take the chain off the sprocket.

2. Loosen the axle nut

3. Push the wheel forward enough to free the chain.

4. Tap the axle out far enough that you can pull it the rest of the way out with your hands.

5. Lift the brake caliper off of the disc. (If it has a lot of wear, you may need to use a screwdriver to pry the pads back.)

6. Roll the old wheel down the driveway.

Remove the Shocks

There are only 2 nuts holding each shock to the bike.

1. Remove one of the nuts.

2. Remove one of the other nuts.

3. There should be two more nuts, remove one of those.

4. Remove the last nut.

Remove the Swingarm

Now you are ready to get that grimy steel tube swing arm out of the frame.

1. Detach the caliper mount where it is attached to the front of the swing arm.

2. You will need to use a 22 mm wrench or socket on one side and a 23mm on the other side.

3. Then just take a mallet and tap down on the swing arm until you can easily pop it out.

Now you are ready for Part 2. There I'll be preparing to modify the RR swing arm and purchasing some new bearings.
