"Highway Star"     1966 Ford Mustang

Introduction / Overview: 1966 Mustang GT, 4-Speed, Pony interior, Frame up resto, second owner since 1973, CA. car origianlly sold in Hawthorne, CA in 1966, complete new interior, all sheetmetal has been replaced except for the roof, rear deck lid, and right front fender, all sheet metal is Ford Tooling products, complete new suspension (all Ford GT parts), 347 Edelbrock Stroker, Trac-Lock 3:55 Posi rear end.  This car was rebuilt to exact original as possible.  It was in the body shop for over a year and the mechanicals took a year and a half to finish.
Drivetrain:

Edelbrock 347 Stroker w/Hollley 650 double pumper, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold, Mallory breakerless distributor and coil, Edelbrock Performer #60259 2.02" aluminum heads, Federal Mogul stainless steel rings, Scat Forged "I" beam crank, Elgin Pro-Stock   E-950-P camshaft .472/.496. Powdercoated long tube headers through 2 1/2" stainless steel tubes and a custom H-Pipe into 3" Flowmasters. Original 4-speed transmission, original driveshaft, 8" housing with a brand new Track-Lock 3:55 Posi, black powder coated traction bars

Chassis:

The front chassis has been completely replaced with quality  Ford GT parts, Edelbrock performer IAS gas shocks, new O.E. rear leaf springs

Wheels and Tires: I had the original GT rally rimscustom widened to 8" in the rear and 6" in the front.  Triple chrome plated.  When on they sit perfectly inside the fender wells. The tires are B.F. Goodrich T/A radials. Fronts are P225 60R 14 and the rears are P245 60R 14
Body & Paint: Custom work done by Doug @ Diversified Specialties in Torrance, CA. 310/782-6100.  We replaced all the sheetmetal except for the roof, roof pillars, rear deck lid, and the left front fender.  All sheet metal was stamped from original Ford tooling.  There were too many rust pits that would have required future work so we went all out.  All welds were spot welded numerous tmes to prevent warping then lead filled.  Doug did a fantastic job!!
Interioir: The interior of this car has been completely replaced with the original Pony Interior Code 68 colors of Ivory Gold and White (Luxury).  The dash was completely sanded down and re-painted.  All chrome has been either re-chromed or replaced.  The only things that are still original is the shifter and shift knob and the AM radio.
