"The Longhorn"     1972 Chevrolet C30 Pickup

Introduction / Overview:

I am the third owner of this 1972 Chevrolet Longhorn truck, the second owner was a good friend i went to school with and he had always said to me that if he ever sold it he would only want to sell it to me, which was fine because of all the 67-72 GM trucks, this was the only one i ever had any interest in. The Longhorns are not just a long box Chevrolet truck, but they have a 1 foot extension at the front of the box to make them even longer, they typically have heavier suspension and brakes to make the suitable for hauling slide in campers.

I was to restore this truck in the next couple of years but I need some parts, specifically the factory fender mounted tool box doors, one of mine is rusted out badly, and the other s badly bent, so if you have any or know of any I would really appreciate you dropping me a line.

Drivetrain: While most of the Chevrolet Longhorn trucks because of their size and use normally as Camper Specials were equipped with the 402 (badged as the 396) this one was ordered new with the 292 HO six cylinder, 350 automatic, power disc brakes and power steering.
Chassis:

Chassis is a well maintained all stock 1 ton single wheel chassis with floating rear axles.

Disc brakes were not a common option for these trucks especially with the unusual engine option of the 292 HO six.

Wheels and Tires:

Truck is still running the factory option 16.5 wheels with newer radial tire, currently running a set of original hubcaps, and in combination with the wheel size the truck is regularly mistaken as a 1/2 ton.

I also have a set of vintage 16 inch kidney bean alloy wheels for it, not sure if they are Keystones of E-T's though.
Body & Paint:

Body and paint are forthcoming, original the truck was chrome yellow with a white top and currently is a shade of who gives a crap... I mean beige... with the original white top.

Plans are to bring it back to the original colours.
Interioir: This truck has the nicest original interior I have ever seen, in all black, here is no wear or damage to any of it, not even the original dash pad!
