"Sparkie" 1934 Chevrolet Classic
Introduction / Overview: This car is a 1934 Chevrolet 2 door sedan (standard). Herein you will find the details as regards the chassis, paint, and upholstery. Please look it over carefully and determine if this is the car you are looking for and then contact me without more ado! Body: The body, hood and grill and grill-shell are all original. The fenders are fiberglass and the running boards are aftermarket steel (covered with new stock rubber and Chevrolet polished step plates). The car retains its original steel bumpers. Headlights are aftermarket with halogen bulbs. The roof still retains a soft top insert. The car boast that it retains most of its original 73 year old wood, which as car buffs know makes the doors shut quietly unlike its noisy counterpart from Henry Ford. A highlight is the original hood mascot (not aftermarket). We drive serious cars, and serious markets. Drivetrain: Engine: This is a highlight of the car. A Steve Ertel built 383 Chevrolet Stoker engine. (A slide show is available of the entire construction of this engine.) Steve has been working for GM and building engines and transmissions for more than 3 decades. The estimated horse power is 430 hp. Holley 650 cfm carburetor, latest Edelbrock Performer manifold sitting atop aluminum hi-performance heads with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust all roller application and bolted down with ARP hardware. The cam is by Engle, by the way at the stop sign it sounds stock but it generates the horsepower curve from 1000 rpm to 5500 rpm. (You can take it faster and beyond the horse power arc, but you might check your speedometer before you do that!) High performance water pump and oil pump insures engine life. Headman polished ceramic headers provide a beautiful sound going through 2 ½ inch pipes to Magnaflow mufflers with 24 inch long chrome tips at 3 ½ inch diameter. Everything was done perfectly on this engine. The sound is great and the launch is exhilarating!
Chassis: Chassis: Stock Chevrolet frame is partially boxed. Front independent suspension and rack and pinion steering is from a 1967 Corvair, recently completely rebuilt. Rear end is a 1967 Nova posi-traction with a 2.83 gear ratio for daily driving. Transmission is a fully built Chevrolet Turbo 350 with Art Carr hardware throughout and a B&M shift kit and shifter installed. Hydraulic brakes at all 4 wheels; all brake parts, cylinders, springs, shoes recently replaced with new parts.
Wheels and Tires: All new tires, front 185/60/14 and rear 235/70/15. Chrome spoke wheels are brand new with large centers by Vintique Wheel.
Body & Paint: Paint: Dupont supplied the fine metallic brown and fine metallic bronze-gold paint. Stripping done by Shartel’s Pinstriping accenting the reveal and the hood vents. The soft-top roof insert is dark brown.
Interioir: Interior: Accenting the interior is the chrome window frames all around. The original dash sports a polished insert with VDO gauges. The 18 circuit wiring by Ron Francis was installed by an airplane owner/builder, along with special tricks like aircraft insulation on the wiring, aircraft wiring looms in the rear lights. The floor and dash are lined with FAA approved fire resistant insulation. The doors and body are lined with sound proof insulation. Two original rear tail lights have digital inserts, along with a third brake light in the rear window. Corvette tilt steering column is dressed up with a Grant wood wheel. Sony CD player mounted on roof with stereo sound. Comfortable bucket seats and ’58 Thunderbird style rear seat are upholstered in brown and bronze valor with gold trim. (1980’s installation remains in like new shape.) Vintage Air supplies a chilling 35 degrees out of the air conditioning unit, perfect for that desert crossing on your way to your favorite hot rod event.
