"Marc2art"     1961 Chevrolet Impala

Introduction / Overview:

My Buddies Father passed. He left him this 1961 Chevy Impala bubble top. My buddy drove it to his highschool prom. He wanted to restore it and drive it for fun. He's keeping for the memory of his dad. He never worked on cars much and I'm a shade tree at best. I've always loved cars and and have great memories of working on them with my dad. I don't have a "Cool" car yet. I have been doing paintings of muscle cars for years. Not for profit, but for fun. I've sold a few to friends, but nothing big yet. Anyway, he asked me to help. I got it running but it had sat for so many years. it needed to be fixed up. We gutted the car and had the body work done and repainted. It's back in my garage now and we work on it a couple of days a month. We have a new wiring kit to put in that neither one of wants to do but we will.

Drivetrain:

LT1 350 block. Another Buddy, Jack that has a lot of builds under his belt setup the motor. It's not dyno-ed but should be pushing about 380hp when it goes back in. I believe this car came with a 3 speed on the column. Now it has an old 4 speed. It think its a Muncie but have not checked the numbers yet.

Chassis: Standard X frame chevy.
Wheels and Tires: Old 14" slots that his dad had on it. 60 series tires. The Slots were refreshed at the paint shop and look great.
Body & Paint: This bubble top Impala was in the shop for a year. The bottom had a few rustspots and the crossmembers were weak and torqued from drag racing. The front and back had been bumped. It looks new now.
Interioir: Need serious help. Nothing that a panel kit and some carpet won't fix.
