My kids named the car... that's why it's painted gold but called "blue". I guess originally it was going to be blue...

Ha! Well, I can promise I don't trust myself enough to paint my bronco. I think it's pretty impressive that you did. Thanks for the feedback. It really does help a lot. Hope you'll be riding soon.

Killing me is how I walk by the car every day!

If I was to do this again, I would change a few things. I wouldn't use pearl and I would have used a single stage flattened paint. As my car is now, I can never touch it up. The paint would never match. And since I've already chipped it a few places putting it together (rookie mistakes...) I'm kinda screwed there.
Also, about buffing it out, I tried that. I can't decide if it'd be cool or just weird. The paint goes from sorta rough and dull to... smooth and not shiny. That doesn't make any sense...It reflects light, like a shine, but the paint itself is not shiny. I think the answer to your question is NO. But... you could scuff and respray with regular, glossy clear and then cut and buff. My fall back plan is to never paint a car again!

Oh I know that has to be killing you! Thanks for the reply. I hear so many things on the extreme sides of the fence that I'm having a hard time making the decision. Yours just looks so good that every time I see it, I decide...again...that I want to do it. If we did it and it didn't turn out the way we wanted, could it simply be buffed to regular gloss or would we have to sand and re-clear, or just repaint all together? Excited for you on the progress! Thanks again!!

Chavb73, since getting paint, my Falcon is still sitting in the garage. It hasn't seen any sunshine or anything that might break down the paint. Plus, since we painted over the crap-work the first guy did, I'd blame prep-work before blaming anything on the paint.
Did you see this story: http://www.myrideisme.com/Blog/falcon-wagon-flat-paint-flat-clear/
Flat paint on my Falcon and glossy paint on any other car are identical except for the flattening agent we put in the clear. The flattening agent is normally used on bumpers, so I expect it to be plenty durable.
Can't wait to see this on the road!! Making small bits of progress every weekend...

Curious now that you've had it painted a while, if you're happy with the satin finish? How well does it hold up? Highly considering doing the same with my '73 Bronco, but a little nervous about it and what it would take to fix it if it started looking bad. LOVE the way yours turned out!!
