Full Tilt Built Comet Street Rod

posted by Hechtspeed

We were sent this story and being Comet/Falcon lovers, we had to post it.  Anytime I hear or see a Mercury Comet, I smile.  My dad owned a '64 Comet Cyclone.  '61 Comets are not your typical hot rod platform, but you wouldn't know it from seeing this particular purple rod.  It was built by Full Tilt Street Rods in Grand Junction, Colorado, and they had this to say about the project on their website: "Clay and the Full Tilt Crew started with a bone-stock 1961 Comet, tore it down to the frame and installed a couple of tons of the finest street rod parts available.  The '61 features Full Tilt's complete Hub-to-Hub Mustang II IFS and Full Tilt's Parallel 4-Bar rear with ShockWaves.  Full Tilt also did the body work, applied the dive-in-deep "Full Tilt Purple" base coat/clear coat paint and fabricated the custom upholstery." Of all the views of this rod, I like this rear 3/4 shot.  The painted bumper, custom frenched tails and the big 335/35/17 meats give this ride the perfect street rod stance.  Super low and the just the right amount of rake.  Too...

BringaTrailer Dodge Seneca 413 Cross Ram 4 Speed

posted by Hechtspeed

Our friends at BringaTrailer.com have some cool and unusual cars for sale.  It wasn't hard to find one to feature at MyRideisMe.com. This Dodge Seneca stood out, especially for the 413 Cross-Ram that grabbed my attention.  Throw in a 4 speed and now you're talking.  Check out BringaTrailer's feature and let us know what you think!  You better go get on BringaTrailer's email list too, so you can check out all the newest rides for sale that just might find its way to your garage. Odd Design, Huge Engine: 1961 Dodge Seneca 413 Same day update: This Dodge was sold for $14,900 via the Buy-It-Now option just two hours after going out on this morning’s BaT Daily Email! Wow. Those have to be the farthest apart pair of carburetors ever produced, and there is enough metal in those intake manifolds to cast some 4-cylinder engine blocks. The smaller engined versions must have all been crushed long ago as we are sure we’ve never seen this body style before. This one has had one re-spray in the factory color and is otherwise  very original. This 1961 Dodge Seneca 2-Door Sedan...

6 Basic Steps to Drawing Hot Rods

posted by Hechtspeed

Words and Drawings by Ryan Hadden See more at thehaddenhotrodshop.blogspot.com I am no Chip Foose, but I do like to draw cars. I have no formal education in drawing automobiles, but I did leave some killer renderings in the back of a few school books when I was younger! I hope that this quick tutorial will help you to do something a lot of guys / gals fear they cannot do. A few "tools of the trade". This is a shot of some of the tools I have collected over the years while drawing. Included in this photo are markers, colored pencils, pastels, a metal ruler ( I prefer them over wood or plastic), ball point pens, and erasers. Art supplies are expensive. If you are just starting out don't let a trip to the local hobby shop scare you. Honestly all you really need to begin drawing is no more than a pencil, paper, and a good drawing surface. It is also helpful to have reference material. This can include magazines, books, posters, photographs, internet (including websites like myrideisme.com, haha, thanks for the plug Ryan!), or 1:1 subject...

“Sick” Camaro Never Looked So Good…

posted by Brian

by Brian Stupski at www.problemchildkustoms.com ...and it's getting closer to the street, literally and figuratively. The gang at ProRides, along with a dedicated team of close friends have been working diligently to get the '69 Camaro completed and ready for its show car circuit tour and also testing on the track. It is currently in Steve's garage and the gang has been working on it every night after work. The goal is to finish the car in April and start testing... We are even thinking about driving it on a leg of the Power Tour to test the street driving of the Camaro. Not bad for a six-second capable ride... Bowler Transmissions wants to have the car in their booth at some Goodguys shows in the coming year, and Denny will also be working with Goodguys on making exhibition runs at their Indy event. Feel free to let Denny know if the car is needed for anything else during the entire season, as we'd all love to see the car not only running on the street and track, but also acting as an ambassador for the hobby and industry...

Hot Rod Ramblings: Mild Customs

posted by Hechtspeed

It's been too long since I rambled on about Hot Rods and Customs, I mean Kustoms.  My crazy car brain has gone down the path of  "Mild Customs".  I'll say it right now, the car that really got me started digging Customs was Nick Hoesing's ex-Ford Galaxie I scoped at Bonneville last year.   Peep it below... Then I picked up a Rodders Journal that featured Kirk Jones' 1960 Ford Starliner.  Kirk's a member at MyRideisMe.com, see his Garage Here for more pics.  Our camera man Swanee grabbed this first pic at last years Grand National Roadster Show.  This 'Liner blew me away!!!  I pulled that TRJ #45 out again last night to re-read the story and stare at the rad photography.  Man, this kustom is mad rad!  Ok, so it may be categorized as a Mild Custom, but this thing is Wild!  That paint (better pics in the Rodders Journal, you're just gonna have to go buy a copy) is nutty!  The interior is grade A.  This Ford oozes style and stance.  Can you imagine the hours spent building this car.  I bought this magazine when we were staying in the hospital for the...

Welding With DW: steady that rod

posted by WelderSeries

This is a short little video on keeping things steady when you're tig welding... specifically the filler rod.  A new rod is 3' long and quite floppy when you're holding it at one end, so I thought this little tip may help at least someone keep that filler rod steady....

1955 Chevy Gasser spotted at Lowes Parking Lot

posted by Hechtspeed

So, February in Utah isn't a great time to bust out the street driven Gasser, you'd think, but the owner of this '55 Gasser called "Hemi Hunter" gets a big high 5 for doing just that.  Of course, it is the warmest day since November 22, it was a balmy 46.  Ha ha  I've got no info except for the pics I took.  But its a gorgeous example of an early 60's Gasser built to run on the street. This car was immaculate!  Cherry black paint, all the correct Gasser mods, like radiused rear fender, bumperless, big long tube headers, no front fender wells to block the headers and straight front axle.  Those keystone mags set the car off nicely as well.  Rad!!! "Hemi Hunter" is right, that's what a 502ci big block will get ya. Love the gold lettering.  Period correct and Rad! Super clean, that's the word that comes to mind.  I dig the scoop sittin' under the vette hood bulge. That paint is reflecting everything.  Wow!  Dig that vette hood bulge/scoop and big street meats in the rear! I dig the white steering wheel and white...
